We are combining our monthly GGDA meeting with CreATL and sharing a discussion on Art in Comics and Games. Games have drawn a lot of artistic inspiration from comics, and you will have a chance to meet both comic and game artists to discuss their tools and techniques. Ever want to get into comic and/or game art? GGDA members can bring their portfolios for review!

Hotep, Creator of anime brand Black Lion and Cubs

Hotep is a champion for the independent, creative voice in a corporate run world. He is creator/ author/ producer/director and publisher of Black Lion and Cubs, a family-friendly, retro-styled anime brand. This work has earned him nominations for the Presidential Citizen’s Award and as a CNN Hero.

Midnight Comics

Lloyd and Natosha Jones are comic book creators based in Metro Atlanta. Both grew up blerds, with a lifelong love of comics, video games, anime/manga, and sci-fi, leading them both to have a love of writing. So, they founded Midnight Comics, a black, family owned, indie comic book and manga company in Metro Atlanta that creates both manga style AND western style comics.

Ezra Kirsch is an Animator, Motion Designer, and Compositor of seven years, three of which have been served as a UI, Character, and VFX animator in studio game development. Not only does she specialize in in-engine sprite animation, runtime animation, and procedural effects, but she’s also an expert in video marketing for games, previously being the primary animator in charge of the production pipeline for attract videos and marketing reels at Eclipse Gaming Systems. Outside of her work in game development, she’s created advertisements, internal and external videos, and interactive media for Crayola, Marriott, the Discovery Channel, Emory, ASIFA-South, and more. Ezra is currently serving as the Art Director on Name Change Simulator, a visual novel/PDF auto-filling tool in development by DollWorx Interactive.
