If you enjoy shader witchcraft, (or are afraid of shader witchcraft!), come to Alex's Ray Marching in Godot Work-Along on July 7th at 7-9pm to try out raymarching. The two more common rendering methods, ray tracing and rasterization, excel with meshes. Ray marching finds fans for its handling of volumes (dust/clouds/fire), fractals, and hyper customized stylization. The first thirty minutes will be a quick explanation of ray marching and an explanation of a base piece of code to work from (so that you can start with a functioning marched quad in Godot), with the remaining hour and a half devoted to everyone freely investigating how to take it further and sharing what they come up with. Questions might include refraction, light scattering in cloud volumes, or practical issues like attaching the quad accurately to a camera. Hope to see you there!
