Georgia Entertainment Gala Recognizes Andrew Greenberg for Contributions to the Georgia Entertainment Industries

ATLANTA (January 19, 2016) — The Georgia Game Developers Association (GGDA) announced today that the Georgia Entertainment Gala has nominated its executive director, Andrew Greenberg, for the Gala’s Highlight award. The award was previously won by rapper Ludacris; civil rights activist Xernona Clayton; Joel Katz, founder of the Joel A. Katz Music and Entertainment Business Program (MEBUS) at Kennesaw State University; and others.

“This award is given to the individual who has shown tremendous tenacity and staying power in this ever-changing, challenging industry that we call entertainment,” said Gala organizer Autumn Bailey.  “My life’s mission is to empower those who are sparking change with their own personal gifts and talents. I firmly believe that this is what the Georgia Entertainment Gala is doing.”

Greenberg, best known for designing computer games and roleplaying games like Mall Tycoon and Fading Suns, also serves on the boards of the Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Commission; the Decide DeKalb Development Authority; the Atlanta Regional Commission Workforce Development board; and other professional and corporate organizations. A fellow with the Mythic Imagination Institute, Andrew is founder and organizer of the Southern Interactive Entertainment and Games Expo (SIEGE), the largest professional game development conference in the South.

Lead developer on the upcoming Fading Suns: Noble Armada mobile and tablet game, Greenberg’s computer game credits include Dracula Unleashed, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, Emperor of the Fading Suns, Warhammer 40K: Final Liberation, Merchant Prince II, Mall Tycoon, Dungeon Crawlers, Dungeon Lords, Railroad Tycoon Mobile and the Global Agenda MMO.

“Georgia has become both a technology and entertainment hub in the past few years,” said Greenberg. “This award underlines how boundaries between old and new media have blurred. Digital media and traditional media have more in common than not, and the Gala has recognized that we have unparalleled opportunities in both.”

The Georgia Game Developers Association is the non-profit trade association for the video game industry in the state of Georgia. It supports its members with business opportunities, professional development and public affairs coordination. It also puts on the Southern Interactive Entertainment and Game Expo (www.siegecon.net), the largest professional game development conference in the South. SIEGE boasts a college fair, an investment conference, and three days of the best panels and networking events in interactive entertainment.
